of fundamental value. Long positions are taken in securities trading at low multiples of fundamentals and short positions are taken in
securities trading at high multiples of fundamentals.

The 'Earnings Quality' area summarizes papers implementing
strategies that predict changes in future earnings performance resulting
from accounting distortions. Long
positions are taken in securities that are predicted to have increases in
earnings performance and short positions are taken in securities that are
predicted to have decreases in earnings performance.

papers implementing trading strategies based on recent changes in fundamentals. Long positions are taken in securities with
improving fundamentals and short positions are taken in
securities with deteriorating fundamentals. NOTE: You will not find
any research using price, volume or other such technical analysis strategies on this site.
We focus on strategies using fundamental analysis.
- Smart Money

The 'Smart Money' area summarizes
papers implementing trading strategies that follow the lead of sophisticated
investors having a comparative advantage in performing fundamental analysis
(e.g., insiders, short sellers). Long positions are taken in securities that
are being accumulated by sophisticated investors and short positions are taken in
securities that are being unloaded by sophisticated investors.
- External Financing

The 'External Financing' area summarizes
papers implementing trading strategies that take positions based on firms'
recent capital market transactions. Long positions are taken in securities
of firms that have recently retired capital and short positions are taken in
securities of firms that have recently issued new capital.

papers implementing trading strategies that do not fit any of the above
categories. To be included here the paper must have at least a one
alpha rating and employ a trading strategy grounded in fundamental analysis.
