Research is organized into categories to facilitate interpretation.  Click on a category to see associated papers listed chronologically.  Alternatively, click on the Bibliography link to see a listing of all papers.

Valuation

The 'Valuation' area summarizes papers implementing trading strategies that compare observed prices to measures of fundamental value.  Long positions are taken in securities trading at low multiples of fundamentals and short positions are taken in securities trading at high multiples of fundamentals.

Earnings Quality

The 'Earnings Quality' area summarizes papers implementing strategies that predict changes in future earnings performance resulting from accounting distortions.  Long positions are taken in securities that are predicted to have increases in earnings performance and short positions are taken in securities that are predicted to have decreases in earnings performance.

Momentum

The 'Momentum' area summarizes papers implementing trading strategies based on recent changes in fundamentals.  Long positions are taken in securities with improving fundamentals and short positions are taken in securities with deteriorating fundamentals.  NOTE:  You will not find any research using price, volume or other such technical analysis strategies on this site.  We focus on strategies using fundamental analysis.

Smart Money

The 'Smart Money' area summarizes papers implementing trading strategies that follow the lead of sophisticated investors having a comparative advantage in performing fundamental analysis (e.g., insiders, short sellers).  Long positions are taken in securities that are being accumulated by sophisticated investors and short positions are taken in securities that are being unloaded by sophisticated investors.

External Financing

The 'External Financing' area summarizes papers implementing trading strategies that take positions based on firms' recent capital market transactions.  Long positions are taken in securities of firms that have recently retired capital and short positions are taken in securities of firms that have recently issued new capital.

Other

The 'Other' area summarizes papers implementing trading strategies that do not fit any of the above categories.  To be included here the paper must have at least a one alpha rating and employ a trading strategy grounded in fundamental analysis.

Bibliography

The 'Bibliography' area provides an alphabetic (by surname of first author) listing of all the research papers available on AlphaSeeker.com.
